Can it get Worse?? Of Course it Can!!

The past two weeks have been an absolute nightmare! When you think it can't possibly get any worse, it does! About ten days ago, my boys both started throwing up. They threw up and threw up and threw up for 12 straight hours. During that time, we called the on-call doctor and he informed us that there is a real nasty virus going around and it sounded like my twins had caught it. They should throw up for 24 hours and then have diahrea for two weeks. Although awful, that was doable (is that a word??) Well, three days later, they were still throwing up and were real lethargic. Micah no longer even lifted up his head, he just layed on the floor in his own vomit. It was soooo sad!! I took them to the pediatrician who sent us to the ER. He thought they just needed IV fluids to help with dehydration and that after a few hours we could go back home and wait things out.

Well, Micah was admitted to Banner Desert that night because he was so dehydrated. Matthew was home with daddy and not happy!! It was a long night for all of us, but Micah was improved the next day and was released. Matthew wasn't doing so hot now, was still throwing up a couple times per day, and within 24 hours of his release, Micah, too, started throwing up again. We were now on Day 5 and the diahrea started. On Day 8, last Wednesday, both of my babies were admitted again at Banner Desert. We were in the hospital for five days. You can only imagine how hard it was to deal with two, 15 month old, walking babies hooked up to IVs for five days in a 15 by 15 room that had two cribs and two recliners in it.

While in the hospital both boys (of course both boys) got secondary ear infections and upper respitory infections. There is some concern that because the boys were so sick, and their immune system has been struggling to keep up, that we could end up with pnemonia. Keep our fingers crossed that our luck changes real soon!! Can it get worse?? Lets not go there!
