Zoo with our Sisters

Because we have a zoo membership and go all the time, you'd think we had seen it all. This time, we took our sisters with us and found all sorts of new things to see and do.

Of course, one of the highlights is always the sting rays. They are only at our zoo in the winter, so it is fun to see them and touch them when we can. Even Matthew was brave enough to touch them this time. Well, he was willing to touch the little ones. Apparently the big ones are pretty scary. Micah wanted nothing to do with them and was very nervous around them.
The kamodo dragon exhibit is brand new. It was fun to walk through and see something new. Of course, the favorite part was being able to climb on the statue.

Matthew loves the otters. We have to stop by each visit, but they are almost always sleeping and hiding. This time, they were swimming. We watched them for quite awhile as they chased each other through the water.

We got to feed the giraffes. This was especially fun for our sisters. They moved from Colorado a couple of years ago and their zoo there had a huge giraffe exhibit, one of the largest in the country. They got to feed the giraffes all the time. Finally, our zoo has followed suit and lets you feed the giraffes during certain times of the day. We got to them at just the right time and had fun feeding them lettuce and cookies.
It was a great day and as we pulled out of the parking lot to head back home, Mareena said, "When are we going back to the zoo again?" I guess that meant she loved it as much as the rest of us.
