Camping

We took our boys camping!! Not the sleep in the toy hauler on a bed, microwave popcorn at night for a snack, bake a frozen pizza for dinner kind of camping we've done the past few years, but the sleep in a tent, dig a hole kind of camping I did as a kid. The boys loved it!! They loved sleeping in the tent, sitting around the fire, and going for a hike. And even better, we found friends that were able to come with us. Lisa, Trevis, and their boys joined us. Camping is always more fun with friends!!
As we pulled into the camp site, it started to rain. The kids were all anxious to get out of the cars and our twins were tired of their car seats. They all had to be patient a while longer as we scrambled to get a tarp hung up that we could all get under until the rain died down.
After about an hour, the rain died down and we were able to set up camp. All of our boys loved the tent, especially Matthew. He was so excited to sleep in it!!
We kept the boys entertained by keeping them busy. They made houses out of popsicle sticks, they painted, and did a scavenger hunt.
We shot the BB Gun, launched rockets into the trees, and went on a hike.
We went to the lake and took lots of pictures!! It was so quiet and peaceful as we sat near the water.
Dalin really wanted to ride his quad but there wasn't really a good place to ride it. Matthew and Micah had fun getting on it though and pretending to ride.
All of the boys loved eating watermelon. They ate almost an entire watermelon for dinner one of the nights. The twins carried their piece around forever munching on it as they walked. They were all so cute and so happy!!
Matthew and Micah loved playing with sticks. The bigger the better, in their eyes!
But the highlight for everyone, I think, was the fire. We all loved to sit around it and tell stories.
Camping is so much work, but so worth the effort. With three boys in our family, I'm sure it will not be our last trip. There will be many more in our future, I'm certain!
